Daily Devo - Day 15

SCRIPTURE FOCUS

Ephesians 1:15-17 - For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him… (ESV)

PRAYER FOCUS

Praying prayers from God’s Word can be powerful! Our Scripture focus for today contains the Apostle Paul’s prayer for the church at Ephesus. This letter to the Ephesians contains many foundational truths about the church. The prayers Paul writes in this letter provide a dynamic pattern for us as we pray for the church.

Paul begins by giving thanks for the believers at Ephesus because of their faith in Jesus and their love for all the saints. He then prays that the “God of our Lord Jesus Christ” would give them a Spirit of wisdom and revelation in their knowledge of him. He wants them to know Jesus even more intimately. In fact throughout this prayer to the end of chapter one, Paul continues to lift up the name of Jesus to the believers – even as he is lifting these believers up to the Lord Jesus!

RESPONSE

Let’s pray for each member of Oaks Church today – for the pastors, the governing board, the volunteers, and all the congregation of the saints. Then, let’s pray the remainder of Paul’s prayer in Ephesians 1:15-23, asking the Lord to give each one a Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him.

Finally, let’s ask the Lord to enlighten the eyes of each one’s heart to know these three things: the hope of their calling, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and the power that is available to those who believe.
